AMAZON LUNA GAME STREAMING
Amazon has announced a new cloud gaming platform called Luna which has been in development for a few years. This service was rumored since last year during the launch of Google Stadia. Luna is similar to Google Stadia which allows its users to play games without downloading or installing them on the streaming devices.
The worldwide release of Luna is not announced and will be available for the users in the US for early access. Interested users can sign up for early access and will be available on PC, Mac, iPhone/iPad, and Fire TV.
LUNA PRICING
Since this is just the soft launch the price is currently set at $ 5.99 a month as an introductory plan. Being in the early access stage there is bound to be technical issues but the users can play Luna plus channel games at 4k resolution at 60 fps for a few of the available titles.
Along with the subscription the users can also access the dedicated channels for game developers like Ubisoft and their gaming catalog. Users can now access their favorite titles on their devices with 4K resolution support for popular titles like Far Cry, Assassins Creed Valhalla after its release.
These are powered by Amazon Web Services that are widely popular with multilayer game hosting. Luna recommends an internet connection of 35mbps or more for effective 4k streaming and minimum speed for 10mbps for seamless gameplay experience.
Amazon also promises uninterrupted gameplay and Realtime progress saving with LUNA which works with 2.4GHz and 5Ghz connection. Thought the 4K streaming will be available for selected titles for now but the experience will be a minimum at 1080p.
Since Twitch is owned by amazon there will be an integration of Luna and Twitch and users can see twitch streams for the games in the service along with the original games. Subscribers can easily access the game streams or select the game and start playing the available games through the Luna experience.
LUNA CONTROLLER
The cloud gaming platform Luna comes with an Alexa enabled controller which aids in gaming. The device is designed to connect with the cloud directly and games effortlessly. The controller supports gaming with Wi-Fi for low latency with designs involving multiple antennas.
The controller directly connects to the cloud through Cloud direct and provides better results in lower roundtrip latency when compared with the connection established through Bluetooth with the Luna controller. A significant difference of about 17 to 30 milliseconds across multiple supporting devices while using the cloud direct connection.
Since the controller directly connects to the cloud servers it allows users to easily switch between screens of different devices that the users what. These can be achieved without manually changing any settings or configurations.
